GOOD SCHOOL FOOD
Launched in 2012 in partnership with Birmingham City Schools (BCS), Good School Food is a nationally recognized pre-K-12 education framework that results in academic engagement, economic mobility, healthier eating choices, and environmental stewardship. Through hands-on, food-based lessons that connect multiple subjects and align with state standards, students explore the relationships between food systems, environmental stewardship, health, and their community. YOUTH PATHWAYS & EXPERIENCES
JVTF’s Youth Pathways and Experiences (YPE) initiative offers Birmingham youth paid, work-based learning opportunities, training, enrichment experiences, and support services designed to help high school juniors and seniors explore and identify pathways to full-time employment or higher education. GOOD COMMUNITY FOOD
Good Community Food strengthens the Alabama food system by increasing food access, providing agricultural skills-based training, and sharing resources with urban growers and community gardens. Good Community Food programs include the Good Community Food Fellowship, free and reduced-cost community workshops, free seedling distribution, and free produce via JVTF farm stands.
