food-resilient, healthy, & connected communities

Jones Valley Teaching Farm is focused on improving access to fresh food throughout the Woodlawn community and in Downtown Birmingham at no cost to residents.

Farm Stands

JVTF’s Farm Stands provide direct access points to the produce grown on our Teaching Farms. All fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and seedlings are offered for free. We believe that no matter your income or circumstances, everyone deserves good food.

Harvest Share

Each week we pack and deliver free bags of fresh vegetables, fruits, and flower bouquets along with recipes to the YWCA and residents of Veranda at Park Place, an independent-living community for seniors, right down the street from our Downtown Farm.

Pantry Partners

JVTF partners with local organizations addressing food insecurity in Birmingham. We coordinate the delivery of fresh produce to supplement pantry items and strengthen the nutritional quality of food received.

Seedling Share

Jones Valley Teaching Farm’s Seedling Share initiative supports community gardens across the state with free seedlings throughout the year. Our greenhouses give us the controlled environment needed to get a head start on the growing season. Planting healthy young plants rather than sowing directly into the soil gives recipients an advantage by allowing crops to reach maturity sooner and yield greater harvests over the course of the year.
