Youth Pathways & Experiences

Employing the future leaders of our healthier communities

Jones Valley Teaching Farm’s Youth Pathways and Experiences model plays a vital role in building and sustaining our future—both organizationally and systemically—while creating pathways to economic mobility for Birmingham youth. By offering paid, work-based learning opportunities, training, enrichment experiences, and support services, the program helps young people explore and identify pathways to full-time employment or higher education. Employing apprentices not only inspires our work but also provides opportunities for participants to grow, lead, and contribute to our community long-term.

HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP

The internship is designed for high school juniors and seniors in Birmingham City Schools, providing them with paid, work-based learning opportunities, tailored support, and exposure to career and higher education pathways. Intern experiences are customized to their interests and include college tours, job shadowing, civic engagement opportunities, and meetings with local representatives.
