Through a partnership with AmeriCorps, recent college graduates and young professionals are invited to commit one-year of service at Jones Valley Teaching Farm. The Fellowship program will allow Jones Valley to build its organizational capacity and further our efforts to reach our goal of educating 10,000 students annually by 2015.
During their year of service, Fellows will fight the systemic issues of health disparities, educational achievement and access to healthy food in an urban setting through their immersion in Jones Valley’s educational programs, the urban farming process, and the enhancement of our communication and fundraising efforts on university and high school campuses. To help prepare the Fellows for leadership roles upon completion of the Fellowship program, they are introduced to topics of social entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture, public education and community engagement through a comprehensive curriculum of readings, discussions, field visits, and group project-based work. We look forward to introducing our first cohort of Teaching Farm Fellows in June 2013.
