We want to share a milestone that we’ve reached as our organization has grown and transformed over the years. Since our founding in 2007, we’ve educated over 10,000 students through our field science and nutrition education program on our urban farm. 60% of those students have been since the start of 2012 when we committed to serving the Birmingham community as a teaching farm dedicated to innovative food education for K-8 students.
While we want to measure our success by the long-term impact we have on a student’s life, and not simply focus on numbers, we think this number is a significant indicator that at our core, we’re an organization dedicated to educating and empowering school communities. Our goal for 2013 is to work with 5,000 students, either through our school-based Good School Food programs or our on-site field science and nutrition program.
We are grateful for those that have helped us reach this milestone—this news is a testament to your support and commitment to building a healthier Birmingham community.
We invite you to join our campaign to grow our Good School Food program to the Woodlawn community — your support will help us grow this number as we build our investment in Birmingham students.
